AUTOMATIC CNC HOLE DEBURRING

UBURR® CNC Hole Deburring Tool for Front & Back Edges

Deburr both sides of a drilled through-hole in one machining cycle. UBURR combines a spring-controlled replaceable blade with the NOGA MT DURASHIELD tool-holder for fast, repeatable front-and-back hole deburring.

Standard nominal holder series Ø2.5–Ø25.0 mm, covering pilot-hole ranges from Ø2.5 up to Ø25.5 mm.

WHAT IS UBURR?

Automatic Front-and-Back Deburring for Drilled Through-Holes

UBURR is a CNC hole deburring tool designed to remove burrs from both the front and back edges of a drilled through-hole. The spring-loaded cutting blade retracts while passing through the pilot hole and extends again after exit, allowing the return stroke to deburr the rear edge. This eliminates the need to flip the workpiece or use a second deburring setup.

OperationFront + back hole-edge deburring

How the UBURR Deburring Cycle Works

The spring mechanism automatically controls blade extension and retraction during the cycle.

UBURR deburring the front edge of a drilled hole
1

Deburr the Front Edge

The extended blade engages the front hole edge and removes the burr during entry.

UBURR blade retracting through the pilot hole
2

Blade Retracts Through the Bore

Feed pressure overcomes the spring force and retracts the blade while it passes through the pilot hole.

UBURR deburring the back edge of a drilled hole
3

Deburr the Back Edge

After exiting the bore, the spring extends the blade again so the return stroke finishes the rear edge.

UBURR BLADE CUTTING-EDGE GEOMETRY

Choose the Right UBURR Blade Geometry

UBURR combines a unique spherical cutting-edge surface with different cutting-land geometries. Select the land geometry according to material group, edge strength requirement and application severity.

INTERACTIVE UBURR BLADE SELECTION

Select the Correct UBURR Blade

Use the full UBURR blade selector below. Enter the pilot-hole diameter to show the compatible blade size, then search or filter by blade material, coating and cutting-edge geometry. The selector preserves the current blade SKUs, designations and descriptions supplied in the blade table.

Recommended starting geometry: PL Use PL for most general-purpose applications. Move to ML when a stronger cutting edge is preferred. HL is a special high-land geometry for selected hardened-material applications — contact NOGA for availability.

CNC APPLICATION

Automatic Hole Deburring in the Machine

UBURR enters the drilled hole, retracts through the bore and finishes the opposite edge during the return stroke.

MT DURASHIELD TOOL-HOLDERS

Built for Repeated Industrial Deburring Cycles

UBURR DURASHIELD holders use precipitation-hardened 17-4 PH stainless steel with a passivated surface for strength, wear resistance and corrosion protection.

High StrengthDesigned for repeated mechanical loading during automatic blade actuation and deburring.
Wear ResistanceStable holder geometry supports repeatable blade movement and long production service.
Corrosion ProtectionPassivated stainless-steel construction provides protection without an additional holder coating.
Multiple Pilot DiametersEach holder covers a 0.5 mm pilot-hole range, reducing unnecessary tool inventory.
Quick Blade ReplacementThe blade can be removed and replaced using the holder clamping screw system.

TECHNICAL DATA AT THE TOOL

rMQR Laser Code on UBURR Blades

UBURR blades include a rectangular micro QR (rMQR) laser code for fast access to technical information, machining guidelines and cutting parameters. The engraved code connects the physical blade directly to its digital application data.

UBURR QUESTIONS

Frequently Asked Questions

Clear answers to the most common UBURR selection and application questions.

What is the UBURR used for?
UBURR is used for automatic deburring of the front and back edges of drilled through-holes. The same tool passes through the pilot hole and deburrs both sides without turning the workpiece.
What pilot-hole sizes does the standard range cover?
The nominal holder series runs from Ø2.5 to Ø25.0 mm in 0.5 mm increments and covers actual pilot-hole ranges from Ø2.5 up to Ø25.5 mm. Size 2.5 products are listed as special.
Which UBURR blade size do I need?
Use Size 2.5 for Ø2.5–<3.0 mm, Size 3 for Ø3.0–<5.0 mm, and Size 5 for pilot holes Ø5.0 mm and larger within the standard holder range.
Can UBURR deburr threaded holes?
The blade geometry is designed to retract through the bore and minimize contact with the internal surface. For threaded or pre-threaded applications, confirm the pilot diameter, thread geometry and process with the technical guidelines before production.
What blade materials and coatings are available?
The range includes HSS and solid-carbide blades, with uncoated, NCT TiAlN and NCW AlTiN options depending on blade size and geometry.
Does UBURR require blade adjustment?
No routine blade adjustment is required. The blade movement is controlled by the holder's spring mechanism, which simplifies setup and supports repeatability.
Can UBURR be used for back deburring only?
Yes. Back-only machining is possible with the appropriate tool and programming method. The UB2020 Size 2.5 blade is specifically designated for back deburring only.
Where can I find cutting data and CNC programming information?
Use the dedicated UBURR Technical Center for feeds, speeds, machining limitations, inclined/tube geometry, CNC programming macros and 3D models.
